Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC)

Waste management Licences (Transfer & treatment licences)

When you are issued a new waste management licence you have to prove you are technically competent to run the site. For the first two years you are permitted to operate the site without actually holding a full CoTC. However you must show you are working toward the 12 module qualification and past a oral on site test.

The on-site test involves questions on legislation, good environmental practice and on specifics within your site waste management licence and working plan. We can prepare you for this Environment Agency test and so far we have a 100% client pass rate.

After the first two years you must have a site manager on site that holds a CoTC at a level suitable for you site.

There are three levels: inert, biodegradable and hazardous. We can cover all these levels for a waste transfer station.

However the ideal solution is to have your own CoTC. We can help you through the system by instructing you how to build your portfolio to a standard acceptable to the assessors from WAMITAB.
