Aggregates and Soil Testing

Aggregates

Sites which manufacture recycled aggregates need to show they have fully recovered the waste or the ea will continue to class the aggregate as a waste. If the aggregate is classified as a waste then it will need to be transported under a waste transfer note to a site with an exemption or a waste management licence.

To show you have recovered the waste and the aggregate is no longer waste you need to demonstrate it meets an engineering standard. To achieve this you need to test your aggregate. This is where we can help. We can collect a sample from any site and test is against the following standards:

  • 6F1 Finely crushed concrete and brick
  • 6F2 Crushed brick and concrete
  • Recycled MOT crushed concrete

Soils

In order to accept soils onto a development site, the soils need to comply with the National House Builders Council (NHBC) standards. We can collect samples for your site, test them at a recognised laboratory and report on the results. For sites manufacturing soils we can carry out routine testing to monitor the quality of your soils.

Planning

Modern planning permissions may contain conditions asking for the ground to be tested prior to construction or that the land is tested for landfill gas, if you are near an old tip. With planning for new building a desktop study may be required. Click here for more information.

Landfill

If you have a waste management licence for the disposal of waste then your waste management licence will require you to do regular monitoring for landfill gas, groundwater and possibly surface waters.

Skip companies

In order to send your soils to inert sites of to landfills as cover you need to prove they are inert.

We have the knowledge and equipment to carry out any of the above at very competitive rates.
